ClearlyDesk

ClearlyDesk is a shared home for tasks, dates, notes, and next steps. I’m developing it so clients and students can understand where their work stands.

At a glance

  • Who it helps: Businesses, educators, and the clients or students they serve
  • The problem: Tasks, deadlines, and shared next steps can feel scattered across a transaction.
  • My role: Product creator and client-experience/workflow designer.
  • Bring shared tasks, notes, and deadlines into a client or student portal
  • Make responsibilities and the next step easier to find
  • Develop a separate product with real estate as one use case

A decision behind the work

The challenge
Tasks, notes, and deadlines become difficult to follow when they are scattered.
The choice I made
Give clients and students a shared view of responsibilities and the next step.
The evidence
The ClearlyDesk client and student portal product in development.

The story

A project can become confusing long before anything has gone wrong. There are tasks in one place, notes somewhere else, a deadline to remember, and another person waiting for an answer. ClearlyDesk is the client and student portal I’m developing to give that shared work a more understandable home.

Think of it as a workspace where someone could see the relevant tasks, dates, notes, and next steps for the work they are doing with a business or an educator. My real-estate clients are one use case I care about. The product itself has its own identity and a broader purpose; it is separate from my real-estate business and from Amplicity.

A substantial amount of development has gone into the application, but it has not completed its public launch. I’m still working through what it takes to make it ready for actual use. What holds my attention is the everyday experience: can a person open it, understand where things stand, and do the next useful thing? That is the standard I want ClearlyDesk to meet.

What I’m creating

ClearlyDesk is a shared home for tasks, dates, notes, and next steps. I’m developing it so clients and students can understand where their work stands.
